About Us

Who we are, what we do, and where we're headed as a church family

Who we are

We are the Chain of Lakes Community Bible Church, or CLCBC for short. The name was chosen because we wanted to be an influence for the Gospel in our local community, which is the chain-of-lakes region in northern Illinois. We are also a Bible-believing Christian church. We were founded in 1985. At that time, we met at Camp MOYOCA (short for Moody Youth Camp). When we outgrew that space, we moved into the Antioch VFW Hall. We have been at our current location since 1991 after buying the land in 1989 and constructing the building in 1990.

What we do

Our mission is to help people follow Jesus. We want all the people at CLCBC to be devoted to gathering with God's people, growing in Christ, generous living, and gospel proclamation.

Where we're headed

We're on a discipleship journey together working towards doing, being, and becoming more like Jesus Christ our Savior. We do this by gathering for worship, instruction, fellowship and prayer; growing through engagement in small groups, spiritual disciplines and personal relationships; living generously through service, support, hospitality, and personal resources; and proclaiming the good news through how we live, praying for the lost, caring for our neighbors and friends, and sharing God's good news of salvation with people.

What does this mean for you? Most importantly, you're always welcome at CLCBC. Wherever you're at in your journey, we'll always be ready to help you take your next step with Jesus.

What We Believe

We believe in:

The only true God, the almighty Creator of all things; existing eternally in three persons – Father, Son, and Holy Spirit – full of love and glory.

The unique divine inspiration, entire trustworthiness and authority of the Bible.

The value and dignity of all people: created in God’s image to live in love and holiness, but alienated from God and each other because of our sin and guilt, and justly subject to God’s wrath.

Jesus Christ, fully human and fully divine, who lived as a perfect example, who assumed the judgment due sinners by dying in our place, and who was bodily raised from the dead and ascended as Savior and Lord.

Justification by God's grace to all who repent and put their faith in Jesus Christ alone for salvation.

The indwelling presence and transforming power of the Holy Spirit, who gives to all believers a new life and a new calling to obedient service.

The unity of all believers in Jesus Christ, manifest in worshiping and witnessing churches making disciples throughout the world.

The victorious reign and future personal return of Jesus Christ, who will judge all people with justice and mercy, giving over the unrepentant to eternal condemnation but receiving the redeemed into eternal life.

Robin’s life verse as a graduated grandparent is 3 John 1:4, “I have no greater JOY than to hear our children are walking in the truth.” As we teach our families to follow Christ. Robin’s prayer for our families is that our children will know and love Christ, serve and share His love to all those that He brings into their lives. God has no greater JOY than to see His children walking in the truth.

Some things that help Kathy follow Jesus are: Kathy once heard the term "No Bible, no breakfast", and it stuck with her- because she knows she truly needs Jesus more than anything else in her day. She prays for God to reveal himself through reading a passage of Scripture and takes time in prayer not only to talk, but to listen with the intention drawing near to God. She loves using the OliveTree Bible app for her morning study time, because it really helps her to understand a passage when she learns a bit more about the person or place the passage is talking about.

Mike graduated from Moody Bible Institute in 2004 with a degree in Communications with a print media emphasis.
